In just a few days, you will lead thousands of Michiganders across the Mackinac Bridge at sunrise. This is a rare and exciting opportunity that few get to experience.
I am looking forward to taking part in this experience by joining you in St. Ignace to kick off the bridge run, and then walking across the bridge for my first time as governor.
Your dedication to health and fitness is inspirational, and Michigan needs to be inspired to get more active. Aside from the obvious benefits of improving quality of living, an active population will also help reduce health care costs, decrease absenteeism, lower stress levels and increase productivity in the workplace.
This fall, my administration will ask lawmakers to act on a number of proposals aimed at improving the health and wellness of Michigan’s population. Just as I am joining you for the bridge walk, I hope you will join me in working to change our culture by promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
See you at the starting line,
Gov. Rick Snyder

As Chair of our UEA/UCS Staywell Committee and given the privilege of running the mighty Mackinac Bridge, I applaud your commitment to promote active healthy lifestyles. I recently attended one of the State Health Assessment Region Meetings and was impressed by your desire to ask communities to identify their own progress toward and challenges to health and well-being. See you bright and early Monday morning! : )
I sincerely appreciate the commitment to good health and wellness. I am very excited to have been selected to be one of the runners and my wife (Lyn) is excited to join all those who will be walking. We’ll see you all at the Pasta Dinner Sunday evening and then bright and early Monday morning. Run On!

Your results have an error. Everyone that placed first in their age group was given a placement of zero instead of one. Also they do not display on the age group results.
Hi Mary,
This was an unfortunate accident in the chip timer system. In some cases, the chip timer did not accurately assign runners a place in their age group. As a result, some runners have a value of ‘0’ for this field.
However, runners are listed in the results according to the time it took them to complete the run, which should show accurate placement.
We cherished a thousand great memories today and missed Michigan a lot! Congrats to Gov Snyder and all the other new walkers for joining one of Michigan’s great traditions.
